Busy web-dev firm needs copywriters for REALLY elegant websites!
A client of mine is after a stable of copywriters. At the moment, he’s after just two or three for high quality SEO web copy. But he’s likely to require more, fairly quickly. He runs , a company that does very, VERY schmick package-deal websites, at very competitive prices.
If you get the gig, you should get
quite a bit of work out of it. In the early days, my client’s anticipating SodaHouse will develop
2-5 new sites per month, and he’ll be outsourcing all of the copy. It’s likely there’ll also be some blogging and article writing, down the track.
Ideally, he’ll outsource all the work to a single copywriter, until it gets too much for them. Then he’ll bring another on board, then another, and another, and so on. And to make that transition as smooth as possible, he wants me to shortlist 5 or so of the best candidates, so we always have someone ready to go.
For each job, you’ll get a very
comprehensive brief. I’ve told the client he needs to answer all the questions I usually ask my clients before starting a job. There are a lot! They cover who the client is, what they do, what point they’re trying to make, what their objective is, who their customer is, what benefits they deliver to their customer, etc.
What’s more, the entire writing and review process will be performed through the client’s portal. You’ll log in, find your project, and write your copy on the Writeboard. (Or, of course, you could write it locally in Word and copy-paste.) When you’re done, you’ll submit it for review, and the reviewer will receive an email with a link to your copy. When they’re done, they’ll send it back for your edit, and their changes will be marked on the Writeboard. You get the picture…
The important thing is that it’s
all very systematised and efficient, so you’ll be able to work quickly and get things done with a minimum of fuss.
Note that I won’t be writing any of the copy. Don’t have time. I’ll simply be choosing who gets the gig and overseeing quality.
So here’s the deal.
There’s a job already waiting to go:
• 2000 words.
• Very nice site.
• Needs copy yesterday!
Typical volume of work
The client is anticipating:
• 2-5 sites per month.
• 5-15 pages per site.
• 1400 – 2000 words per site.
• Quite a few projects will exceed their wordcount estimates due to the addition of extra pages by end-client, and copywriters will be paid extra for this.
• SEO article writing and blogging work also likely.
Pay
• You’ll be paid AUD $0.40 + GST per word for SEO web copy.
• Each brief will specify the exact page and wordcount.
• So on average, you’d be looking at around AUD $750 + GST per site.
• Rates for blog and article copy determined by project brief.
Requirements
• You’ve gotta be a good writer.
• If English isn’t your first language, it can’t show in your writing.
• To get the SEO web copy gig, you MUST have samples that prove your ability in promotional copy. Articles, editorials and blog posts don’t count.
• You’ll need to be SEO aware (preferably experienced in SEO copy).
• If you’re not in Australia, you must have a PayPal account or credit card facility.
• You'll need fast internet access.
How to apply
• Apply by email only.
• Please use “SodaHouse Copywriter” as your subject line (without the quotes).
• Email your applications to
glenn@divinewrite.com.
• Please include samples that prove your ability to write promotional copy of the sort that this client obviously needs. If you want the SEO copy gig, articles, editorials and blog posts don’t count.
• Please don’t fax or mail samples. If you only have a print copy, please scan it and email.
• Don’t contact SodaHouse directly. They won’t read or answer your emails, nor will they forward them to me.
• If you’ve previously sent an application for a freelance role with Divine Write, please still send another application.
• I’m gonna get dozens, probably hundreds, of applications for this, so unfortunately I won’t be able to give constructive feedback to unsuccessful applicants.
• However, if I receive your application, I WILL respond. Not always immediately, but it will happen. If you don’t hear from me after a couple of weeks, assume I didn’t get your application and resend.
I look forward to receiving your application!
Cheers.
